  • Residents of Tharaka Nithi are outraged after MP Patrick Munene allegedly hired them to boo Governor Muthomi Njuki for Ksh 1,000 each but failed to pay
  • Munene and his representatives reportedly patrolled the subcounty on the morning of President Ruto’s visit, promising payments for their actions
  • They revealed that the MP instructed them to hurl specific insults like ‘mweu’ at the governor, only for him to disappear without compensating them

A section of Tharaka Nithi residents has expressed their outrage at Chuka Igambang’ombe MP Patrick Munene after he allegedly hired them to heckle Governor Muthomi Njuki for a fee of Ksh 1,000, which he has yet to pay.

This incident highlights the escalating political tensions in the county as youth vow to join other Gen Zs on August 8 to march to the county headquarters, demanding more transparent governance.

The residents voiced their discontent, stating they fulfilled their end of the agreement by disrupting the governor’s speech, yet the MP has since vanished without making the promised payments.

They criticized Munene for exploiting them to further his personal political ambitions and accused him of orchestrating chaos during the event, which had President William Ruto as the main guest.

Locals admitted to causing disruptions at the event, ensuring only the MP and the president could address the crowd, as per the agreement.

They recounted how Munene, in his car, mobilized people to boo the governor, with his close allies calling others to seize the opportunity for easy money. Now addressing the media, the residents labeled the MP a liar and demanded he settle his debt promptly.

This incident occurred on Thursday, July 25, during the president’s visit to the county for a development project inspection at the governor’s invitation.
