Beatrice Chebet has made history at the 2024 Paris Olympics by clinching the gold medal in the women’s 10,000m final, marking Kenya’s second gold of the Games.

The 24-year-old Kenyan athlete delivered a stunning performance, finishing with a time of 30:43.25, outpacing Italy’s Nadia Battocletti and the Netherlands’ Sifan Hassan, who took silver and bronze, respectively.

Chebet’s victory not only adds to her impressive achievements but also makes her the first Kenyan woman to win a gold medal in the 10,000m at the Olympics.

With this win, she becomes the first Kenyan athlete to secure two gold medals in a single Olympic Games. Her earlier triumph came in the women’s 5,000m, where she narrowly defeated compatriot Faith Kipyegon.

The race saw fierce competition from Hassan, who clocked 30:44.12, and Ethiopia’s Gudaf Tsegay, while other Kenyan runners, Margaret Chelimo and Lilian Kasait, finished fourth and fifth, respectively.
