Kenya Mourns the Passing of JESMA Publisher Founder Jesse Waweru

Kenya has lost a significant figure in its educational sector with the passing of Jesse Waweru, the esteemed founder of JESMA Publishers.

Waweru, who was 72 years old, succumbed to pancreatic cancer after a determined battle. His death was announced on August 27, and he was laid to rest in Engineer, North Kinangop.

Waweru’s impact on Kenya’s educational landscape is profound.

As the visionary behind JESMA Publishers, he revolutionized the industry by providing high-quality educational materials, including textbooks and examination papers.

His contributions were instrumental in shaping the academic experiences of countless students who went through the 8-4-4 education system.

His career began in the classroom, where he was affectionately known as “Mr. Young” due to his youthful energy and iconic afro hairstyle.

His son, Peter Waweru, has taken over the family business, carrying forward his father’s legacy and commitment to educational excellence.
