Police in Homabay County have arrested seven employees of a local restaurant in connection with the tragic death of Paul Sunday, a fourth-year student at Tom Mboya University.

Sunday, 24, was found stripped naked, brutally beaten, and tied to the counter of Dalawa Hotel and Restaurant, where he was left to suffer.

The horrifying scene was discovered after a Homabay County Enforcement Officer reported a disturbance at the establishment on Friday afternoon.

According to the police report, the officer arrived at Dalawa Hotel around 1:30 p.m. and was confronted with a chilling sight: Sunday was bound by ropes, with his hands and legs tied to metal bars inside the counter.

The victim, who appeared to have been severely beaten, was bleeding profusely from multiple injuries. Rushed to the Homabay County Referral Hospital, Sunday tragically succumbed to his injuries shortly after arrival.

The seven arrested suspects—Jacob Okeyo Omollo, Baraka Odhiambo Jude, Monica Atieno, David Ochieng, Arnoder Atieno, Kennedy Ouma Otieno, and Pamela Onyango Otieno—are being held in custody as investigations unfold.

Police are awaiting autopsy results to determine the exact cause of death, while the community is left reeling from the disturbing incident.

The arrest of the restaurant staff has raised more questions about the circumstances leading up to the brutal act.

Authorities are yet to determine what prompted the violent assault on the young student, but the investigation is expected to bring more details to light. As the suspects face arraignment on Monday, the death of Paul Sunday has cast a dark shadow over the town, leaving many in shock and disbelief.
