What was the worst punishment you were subjected to as a child?

It may be anything under the sun and as wild as can be imagined but fast forward to adulthood, some of those punishments are now the cornerstones of some lifestyle choices. It turns out, everything we hated as children have now become things we look forward to doing out of the yearning willingness of our hearts.

So, what was your worst punishment that is now a lifestyle choice? Could it be any of the following 9 childhood punishments?

  1. Earl bed time- You are in bed by 9pm after a long day of hustling to earn bread. Sometimes, by 7pm you would probably be on your second dream, right?
  2. Taking naps- Remember hating being forced to take naps when your friends were out and about and you could hear them gleefully playing? Well, adults now actively schedule power naps to recharge- a luxury for many with hectic days.
  3. Being grounded- Remember being told you will not be stepping foot outside for misbehavior? Adults are now looking forward to staying indoors over the weekend over sherehe sheria and winding down with good movies, food and drinks.
  4. No sweets- Adults now care about their dental health and actively avoid sweets.
  5. Mandatory reading- Did you, as a child, do story book write ups for your parents to read in the evening? As much as you hated it, mandatory reading has now created a lifestyle for you where you now prefer quiet evenings to read and unwind, yes?
  6. No screen time- I am sure millions of you hated this punishment but as an adult, you now pay more attention to connect with people than spending so much time on screens.
  7. Eating your vegetables- How many of you hated those traditional vegetables and cabbage as a child? Well, isn’t it funny how you now enjoy green smoothies and salads compared to when you were a kid?
  8. Waking up early- This was the worst, especially on school days but now, you enjoy being part of and bragging about the 5am club, right? Rising with the sun has become something you look forward to.
  9. No going out with friends- Another worst especially if there was a party or a hangout to attend. Now, as an adult, you turn down plans to spend with time with friends and be alone. An introvert’s favorite ‘punishment’.

Know of any more childhood punishments that adults now enjoy as part of their lifestyle choices?
