Play it smart: Why staying silent on infidelity can be your power move

If you are an ardent social media user, then you would know the latest infidelity cases going viral involve Tileh Pacbro and his ex-wife Martina, Flaqo Raz and Keranta as well as renowned social media user Amber Ray and her penchant for ‘getting married’ to other women’s husbands.

In all these cases, infidelity was highly publicized. The latest one includes a lengthy statement from Tileh published on social media accusing his ex-wife, influencer Martina Glez of having several extramarital affairs that prompted him to leave the marriage. He claimed his long silence on the matter left him publicly painted as the culprit but as he had finally gotten enough of being vilified, he chose to spill the beans. Swiftly, his ex-wife responded to social media commenters, telling them that everything Tileh had said was a lie.

To Tileh’s statement, Flaqo showed support, once again intimating that this ex-girlfriend, influencer Keranta cheated on him too. Keranta indirectly responded to Flaqo, telling him that people are not stupid.

“If you are a real man and you stayed faithful, you should just be quiet and stop trying to ALWAYS victimizing yourself. You can’t wake up everyday and choose to be a liar. Aaaai, watu si wajinga bwanaaaaaa,” Keranta wrote on social media.

As for Amber Ray, one would need a week’s sit down to understand the dramas attached to her name of how she ruined two marriages, fought vicious online wars with the wives, permanently broke one marriage and went ahead to claim that the famous influencer ex-wife was obsessed with her. This claim reignited another online war that had simmered down for years before it erupted again. Amber Ray has now been issuing statements all over the place trying to paint herself as a victimized woman who did not know the men she was with were married but a section of Kenyans are not buying her stories as they pulled out receipts of how Amber knew what she was doing and knew the men were married.

Keep in mind, on social media, Amber portrays herself as a happily ‘married’ mother of two but is constantly talking about her past relationships.

Here’s where the problem lies with all the above 3 cases… if any of the alleged victims of infidelity would have kept quiet about the alleged affairs, then they would have had the upper hand by playing it smart. It would have been a strategic and emotionally wise move for the following reasons:

The first thing is that they would have been able to protect their narratives. By being first to reveal infidelity- especially in a heated or emotional state- they risked the other person twisting the stories to their advantage. In waiting, they would have extended a noose to the cheaters to expose their own actions.

Secondly, keeping quiet would have helped the victims maintain their dignity. Walking away with grace rather than rushing to expose someone’s betrayal gives you control over the situation. You don’t owe anyone a public breakdown or a messy explanation. Sometimes, silence speaks louder than accusations.

And last but not least, they would have played it smart by letting the truth reveal itself. This is because people who cheat often show patterns of dishonesty, and in time, their actions will expose them. Instead of rushing to prove your side, letting the truth unfold naturally can be more powerful. It also prevents unnecessary drama and emotional exhaustion.
