Shakib Cham has opened up about how he first met Ugandan socialite and entrepreneur Zari Hassan, revealing that fate played a major role in their love story.
According to him, it all began with a chance encounter in South Africa, where he recognized Zari’s car, followed it, and ultimately crossed paths with her in a way that set the stage for their future relationship.

During a recent interview, Shakib recounted the day he first saw Zari in South Africa, describing it as an unexpected but fateful moment.

He explained that while driving along Main Road, he spotted a sleek Mercedes-Benz with the number plate “Zari 3 GP.”
Recognizing the name, curiosity got the best of him, and he decided to follow the car, hoping to meet her in person.
“When I reached where she parked, I approached her and told her, ‘You know what? I’m a Ugandan, and I’m your fan. I like you. I just came to say hi,’” Shakib recalled.

However, Zari was initially cautious and headed straight to security, unsure of his intentions. But once she realized he posed no threat, she relaxed and even introduced him to her son, who was celebrating his birthday.
Shakib took the opportunity to wish the boy well before parting ways, thinking that would be the end of their interaction.
Little did he know, this brief moment would later become the foundation of something much bigger.
Years Later, Fate Brings Them Together Again
Two years after that first meeting, destiny orchestrated another encounter between Shakib and Zari at a birthday function in Uganda.
“I didn’t know she was going to be there,” Shakib admitted, explaining that he was invited by a mutual friend who also happened to be Zari’s acquaintance.

That night, something shifted between them. Zari, now single, started noticing Shakib’s presence, even though at first she ignored him.
Sensing an opportunity, he made deliberate attempts to catch her attention, stealing glances at her throughout the night.
Finally, Shakib managed to share a dance with Zari, despite opposition from people at the party. He recalled how her security team initially tried to stop him, but Zari herself intervened and gave him a chance.
“She had so many bouncers trying to stop me, but then she told them, ‘No, he’s a cool person. It’s okay. Don’t mind him,’” Shakib revealed.
Love Story
By the end of that evening, Shakib had managed to secure Zari’s number, and from there, their relationship blossomed.
“I told her how I liked her, how I had followed her for a long time. I asked if she was ready to give me a chance to love her,” he shared.
However, their relationship wasn’t without hurdles. Shakib revealed that many Ugandans were against his romance with Zari, mainly because of the high-profile men she had previously dated.
“The whole Ugandan community was against it because of the profile of men Zari has been with,” Shakib said.
But despite the scrutiny and outside opinions, their love only grew stronger. The two eventually made their union official in 2023, sealing their love story in marriage.
Zari Confronts Shakib Live on Air
Their romance has continued to make headlines, and in a separate incident, Zari recently confronted Shakib live on air.
During a radio interview, Zari called in to express her frustration after Shakib failed to send her a good morning text before heading out for the interview.
