  • Swaleh Mdoe, a prominent media personality and journalist, has been thrust into the spotlight following his indefinite removal from the airwaves by Citizen TV, a top television station under Royal Media Services
  • According to reports, Mdoe was absent from his scheduled 1:00 p.m. bulletin on Tuesday, January 23, citing a medical emergency that his supervisors purportedly were unaware of
  • The social media is now buzzing with reactions, with some rallying behind Mdoe, citing his significant contributions to the media house as grounds to question his suspension, while others are expressing concerns about work ethics and the importance of making prior communications.

Reports of Swaleh Mdoe’s alleged suspension from Citizen TV have stirred widespread interest, leaving many surprised and questioning the implications of the news anchor’s absence.

Mdoe’s unexpected removal from the airwaves has sparked speculation about the reasons behind the decision. It was reported that he missed the 1:00 p.m. bulletin on Tuesday, January 23, citing a medical emergency, which his supervisors allegedly were unaware of. He has now been off-air for over three weeks.

Known for his role in hosting the prime-time Swahili bulletin “Tafakari ya Babu” at 7:00 p.m. on Mondays, as well as the 1:00 p.m. bulletins on Tuesdays through Fridays, Mdoe’s media career began in 1991 and extends far beyond his work as a news anchor.

With experience in both print and broadcast media nationally and internationally, Mdoe has contributed to various outlets such as Kenya Times, Standard Group, BBC, and Los Angeles Times, among others. His versatility and extensive contributions have earned him recognition in the media industry.

The news of Mdoe’s suspension has left many Kenyans shocked, pondering the potential impact of his absence.

Some, like Leonce Mwachia, expressed staunch support for Mdoe, highlighting his significant role and influence, particularly through his show “Tafakari ya Babu.”  while others opined that he lacked work ethics.
