A somber mood engulfed residents of Tharaka Nithi County, when the body of slain blogger Peris Mugera was laid to rest.
Relatives, friends, colleagues, and county leaders gathered at the Ndiruni residence of the deceased blogger, sharing heartfelt condolences that reflected her as a devoted mother.
Pictures on Maara subcounty Member of Parliament Kareke Mbiuki’s Facebook depict attendees with solemn expressions, grappling with the enigmatic and grisly nature of the woman’s demise.
According to a eulogy seen by this writer, Peris enjoyed a healthy life until the fateful evening of Thursday, February 29th, 2024, when she failed to return home after heading out to meet a friend.
What followed were the heartbreaking news that Mugera was no more, after her lifeless body was discovered in Kirinyaga county on March 8th.
The family eulogized her as a joyful woman and an exceptional mother, who in all circumstances went above and beyond for her loved ones.

Where was Mugera working?
As per the eulogy, Peris Mugera was driven by a passion for entrepreneurship, leading her to venture into business in Nairobi.
However, upon realizing the challenging economic conditions, she returned to her hometown in Chuka where she served in public works between 2017-2018 with the Tharaka Nithi County Government.
Additionally, in 2017, she became an integral part of the Felix Mbiuki Foundation, playing a key role in its establishment.
It’s noteworthy that amidst the mystery surrounding Mugera’s murder, her employer, Gitari Mbiuki, also met a similarly mysterious fate in July 2023, when his lifeless body was discovered in a vehicle.
County leaders attend burial, eulogize Mugera
Several leaders from the county administration attended the burial and shared their eulogies with the heartbroken family of Peris.
Among them included Maara MP Kareke Mbiuki, former Chuka University Vice Chancellor Prof Erastus Njoka and Karingani Ward Mr. Gaturo.
The Maara MP mourned Mugera in sweet words, referring to her as a cheerful mum while hailing her contribution to the region’s Ubuntu foundation.
The Member of Parliament who has served in the capacity for three consecutive terms further said that he would rally his team to scale up Mugera’s murder investigation amid the families desperation for justice.
Attended the burial of Peris Karimi Mugera, a beloved member of Ubuntu Family in Ndiruni village in Magumoni. Peris was known for her loving and cheerful nature, and her untimely death at the hands of the criminals was a great tragedy for her family and friends. As a community we are committed to seeking justice for her and ensuring that those responsible are held accountable for their actions. Peris will be deeply missed by all who knew her, May her soul rest in peace, and may her memory continue to libe on in the hearts of all who loved her.
