Mark Stancil, an American man, is facing heart-wrenching separation from his Kenyan wife, Deborah, and their children due to the denial of Deborah’s visa by the U.S. Embassy in Kenya.

However, their happiness is marred by the embassy’s refusal to grant Deborah a visa to live in the United States.

The separation has torn the family apart, with Stancil’s stepdaughter now residing with him in the United States, while their toddler remains in Kenya with her mother.

Despite relentless efforts to reunite their family, including Stancil’s regular visits to Kenya and legal advocacy through organizations like the International Refugee Assistance Project (IRAP) and American Families United, their situation remains dire.

Stancil, along with countless other families facing similar circumstances, is pinning his hopes on the Supreme Court case Department of State v. Muñoz, which challenges the constitutionality of denying visas to spouses of U.S. citizens.

The outcome of this case could profoundly impact the lives of families separated by bureaucratic decisions.
