According to the police report, filed under OB 83/7/05/2024 at 21:15hrs, Roy Rick Otieno, the manager of AP Canteen in Kilifi, reported that the incident was staged as a prank.

Otieno recounted that an individual, accompanied by three others, entered the canteen and requested permission to film inside.

Upon being denied, they proceeded to orchestrate a mock robbery scene.

One person pretended to be intoxicated while two others, riding a motorcycle, simulated a mugging, all while the fourth individual recorded the incident.

The resulting video, posted on TikTok with the username @shabir_shirazy 003, falsely portrayed a robbery occurring near the police station, tarnishing the reputations of both the police officers and the canteen.
