  • DJ Kalonje is suing Oga Obinna after the media personality questioned his live mixing skills on Obinna TV Extra
  • The DJ has given Obinna seven days to apologize, calling the remarks slanderous and damaging
  • With no signs of backing down, this feud is on the verge of becoming a high-stakes court battle

A heated legal showdown is brewing between two of Kenya’s most recognizable entertainment figures—DJ Kalonje and media personality Oga Obinna.

The controversy erupted on August 19, 2024, when Obinna, on his popular YouTube channel Obinna TV Extra, took direct aim at Kalonje’s live mixing abilities.

Obinna’s critique, laced with biting comments, triggered an immediate backlash from the DJ, who has spent years building his brand and cultivating a reputation as one of the country’s finest turntable maestros.

In a fiery Instagram post, DJ Kalonje did not hold back, condemning Obinna’s comments as irresponsible and accusing him of trying to tarnish his name for clout.

“It is truly baffling to me how I ended up being dragged into someone else’s interview, let alone why anyone would attempt to tarnish my name and brand for the sake of a few fleeting views and likes,” he wrote.

The situation quickly escalated when Kalonje’s legal team issued a formal letter to Obinna, demanding a public and unconditional apology within seven days.

The letter accuses Obinna of knowingly spreading falsehoods about the DJ’s mixing skills, asserting that his comments were not only defamatory but also damaging to Kalonje’s brand and reputation in the industry.

The DJ is now prepared to take the matter to court if the apology is not forthcoming, a move that could see Obinna facing significant legal repercussions, including the burden of legal costs.
