Dorcas Rigathi In Tears Over Widows Forced Into Sex For Survival

  • Pastor Dorcas Rigathi, couldn’t hold back tears as she recounted the heartbreaking tales of widows forced to “sell” themselves to feed their families or children in certain parts of the country
  • With deep sorrow, the second lady revealed the distressing reality she witnessed in Migori County, where widows are driven to exchange their bodies for survival in a bid to ensure their children are fed
  • She appealed to religious authorities in the Muslim and Christian faiths to endorse efforts to improve the lives of widows and other marginalized groups in their communities

Pastor Dorcas Rigathi, broke down in tears as she shared the account of widows who, in some regions of the nation, are compelled to “sell” their bodies in order to provide food for their families or children.

Pastor Dorcas expressed her anguish stating that some widows have been compelled to trade their bodies for sex in order to provide for their children.

She related how, during a recent tour of Migori County, some of the widows she is currently helping described to her the struggles they face in order to provide for their families.

“I went to Migori, a widow is ‘selling’ her body to feed her child. And we are still talking about religion. Just ask yourself if that was your mother doing that to feed you and get your school fees. We need to go beyond religion and get them out of this mess. In the end, nobody will be asked which religion they belong to, God will judge us based on how we did to help His people. In the crisis we are in, if the religious leaders will not act, then we are not helping our people.”

She expressed concern, stating that such heartbreaking cases are the motivation behind her intensified efforts to assist minority groups, including women and young men struggling with alcoholism.

She reflected on the possibility of her own mother resorting to similar means to earn a livelihood and pay for schooling, urging the crowd to come together to support these women and individuals to lead better lives.

Dorcas emphasized that this initiative should be implemented regardless of someone’s religion, as the problem is widespread and affects every demographic.

She highlighted an epidemic of vices and urged people to use religion positively to restore lost morality and safeguard children from having bleak futures.

She expressed concern that young people now resort to killing their elderly parents simply because they have gray hair, viewing old age as shameful, and lamented that something profoundly troubling has occurred within this generation.

Pastor Dorcas Weeps Over Rising Youth Alcoholism

In another instance, the second lady sobbed on a previous occasion while fervently urging young people in Kiambu County to abstain from drug and alcohol misuse.

Pastor Dorcas Rigathi had traveled to the area to meet with church leaders, before she met the youth at a medical camp nearby.

Dorcas, who didn’t spare her time to advise them on the far-reaching consequences of immorality, was sorry that drug and alcohol addiction had not only ruined their lives but also claimed those of others, while devastatingly leaving others’ destitute.

Pastor Dorcas highlighted the significant issue of drug and alcohol abuse, particularly prevalent in the Mt. Kenya region, where it has caused devastation among families, echoing its widespread impact across the nation.
