  • Many Kenyans, particularly those of his Culture Ministry church based in Roysambu, have recorded chilling statements, recalling how they paid amounts ranging from KSh 100 – 150K to be given visas and links to jobs abroad
  • Things went south for them after the self-styled pastor begun to dodge calls, before sending them concocted messages that they had failed visa interviews despite having paid the hefty monies

The streets of Nairobi are abuzz with the news of Pastor James Wanjohi, the charismatic leader of Jesus Culture Ministry in Roysambu, being on the run.

What started as a beacon of hope for job seekers quickly turned into a nightmare, as investigations reveal Wanjohi’s involvement in a staggering Ksh.600 million job racket.

The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) has launched a relentless manhunt for Wanjohi, following a raid on his abroad-jobs agency Worthstart Africa offices located in Pension Towers.

 The raid was prompted by the harrowing tales of thousands who fell victim to Wanjohi’s promises of lucrative job opportunities abroad in exchange for hefty agency fees.

According to police reports, over 4000 hopeful job seekers paid fees ranging from Ksh.100,000 to Ksh.140,000, trusting Wanjohi and his agency to facilitate their employment prospects overseas.

However, the dream quickly soured as the agency began to dodge calls and inquiries, leaving applicants in despair.

Victims recount tales of financial ruin and shattered dreams, with some resorting to loans and desperate measures to secure opportunities for themselves or their loved ones.

Heartbreakingly, many found themselves deeper in debt with no recourse as promises of jobs and visas evaporated into thin air.

The magnitude of the scam is underscored by the diverse array of victims, ranging from fresh graduates seeking their first opportunity to seasoned individuals hoping to secure a better future for their families.

Among the most affected are members of Wanjohi’s own congregation, who placed unwavering trust in their pastor.

As investigations intensify, police have already apprehended several key figures within the recruitment agency.

However, the elusive Wanjohi remains at large, reportedly evading authorities as his victims clamor for justice and restitution.

With losses totaling over Ksh.600 million, the victims’ cries for recourse grow louder, echoing the sentiment of one victim who implored, “We trusted him with our hard-earned money, now we demand justice and restitution.”
