A young man tragically died after holding onto a live electricity wire in the Kona area of Kayole, Nairobi County.
The incident, which occurred at 6:00 PM, happened when the man, who was fleeing after snatching someone’s phone, accidentally touched the live wire and fell into a river where the wires current was flowing.
This incident brought the densely populated area to a standstill as fellow gang members joined in, making desperate attempts to rescue him.

Chaos erupted when the gang couldn’t decide who was last with the man, resulting in them fighting each other and forcing the public to scatter in different directions for safety.
The incident was witnessed by this writer, and his body, which was still moving in the water, was retrieved by a brave member of his gang.
The man was quickly placed on the back of another man and rushed to the nearby hospital, Koki Medical, where more drama unfolded.

The gang members, in disbelief over losing their friend, stormed the hospital, brushing past other patients, and ordered the doctor to resuscitate their friend.
They then instructed all members of the public who had gathered to witness the events to leave before breaking down in tears.
