A Kenya Defense Forces (KDF) sub-unit deployed at the Gherille Forward Operating Base provided critical assistance to an expectant mother during a routine patrol within Gherille Centre.
The mother, Mrs. Quresha Mungay, had traveled from Gherille, Somalia, seeking delivery services at the Gherille (Kenya) Dispensary, which has limited medical capabilities.
Despite the constrained resources, the KDF patrol, which included three soldiers, successfully facilitated a safe delivery within 30 minutes.

This intervention brought immense relief to Mrs. Mungay, who had been in labor for several hours.
The soldiers’ prompt action ensured that both the mother and the baby were out of danger.
