  • An unusual confrontation unfolded between Kenyan police personnel and Kenya Defence Force (KDF) officers
  • This ensued when police officers stationed at a checkpoint hesitated to clear the passage for a KDF water bowser carrying four occupants
  • The KDF officers became incensed, confronting the police while brandishing their firearms and discharging rounds into the air as a means of intimidation

In Turkana County, specifically within Turkana Central Sub-County, an alarming incident unfolded at the Lodwar Police Station, prompting swift action from law enforcement authorities.

The incident, categorized as a robbery with violence, was reported via OB no. 31/16/04/2024 at 1248 hours by Police Officer 258761 Pc Cleophas Makhapila.

Pc Makhapila, deployed on day road block duties at Mt. Kenya, recounted an altercation that occurred while manning a roadblock with fellow officers and county enforcement personnel.

According to Pc Makhapila’s report, trouble ensued when police officers delayed removing spikes at the roadblock, leading to a confrontation with a Kenya Defence Force (KDF) water bowser.

The situation escalated when a KDF officer allegedly assaulted Pc Makhapila and threatened him with his rifle, firing shots nearby.
