Kenya Ports Authority Donates KSh1.5 Million Worth of Food for Ramadan Relief in Coastal Region

  • Kenya Ports Authority (KPA) donated food items worth Sh1.5 million for Ramadan relief in the Coast Region.
  • KPA’s Managing Director Capt William Ruto highlighted the collective effort to support families, especially those facing economic hardships during Ramadan
  • KPA partnered with the Mohamed Ali Foundation to distribute food packages, amplifying the impact of their charitable efforts in the region

The Kenya Ports Authority (KPA) has stepped forward to support families in the Coast Region during the holy month of Ramadan.

With a donation valued at Sh1.5 million, the KPA aims to alleviate the burdens faced by Muslim communities during this sacred period.

At a ceremony held at the KPA headquarters, Managing Director Capt William Ruto underscored the organization’s commitment to standing with the Muslim community.

Recognizing the challenges many families encounter, particularly those grappling with economic hardships, Capt Ruto emphasized the collective effort to provide relief, allowing families to observe Ramadan with peace of mind.

“The essence of Ramadan lies in compassion and solidarity, and through this donation, we strive to uphold these values by supporting those in need,” stated Capt Ruto.

He highlighted the significance of giving back, especially to those experiencing economic hardship and inequality, reiterating KPA’s pivotal role in fostering community support.

Expressing gratitude for the gesture, Sheikh Muhdhar Khitamy, Deputy Chairperson of the Supreme Council of Kenya Muslims (SUPKEM), emphasized the profound impact the donation would have on vulnerable families.

 “We commend KPA for their unwavering support, which enables less fortunate Muslim families to observe Ramadan with dignity,” Sheikh Khitamy remarked, emphasizing the importance of solidarity within the community.

Khadija Dohry, representing the Mohamed Ali Foundation, a key partner in the initiative, lauded the collaboration between KPA and various organizations to maximize the outreach efforts.

 Stressing the significance of collective leadership and philanthropy, Dohry emphasized the foundation’s ongoing efforts to distribute food packages to those in need.

“This partnership with KPA amplifies our efforts to reach vulnerable communities, ensuring that the spirit of Ramadan resonates beyond borders,” Dohry affirmed.

She highlighted the continuous support from KPA, noting the organization’s consistent commitment to charitable endeavors.
