  • Lieutenant General Charles Muriu Kahariri has officially been promoted to the prestigious rank of General and appointed as the Chief of the Defence Forces by President William Ruto
  • This follows the tragic demise of General Francis Ogolla in a helicopter crash
  • In a swift response to the leadership vacuum created by the loss of General Ogolla and other military personnel, President Ruto has also announced appointments in other ranks in the KDF

President William Ruto has announced the appointment of a new leadership team within the Kenya Defence Forces (KDF).

This move comes the wake of a tragic helicopter crash that claimed the lives of Kenya’s Chief of Defence Forces, General Francis Ogolla, and several other military personnel.

Pursuant to section 9 (2) (a) of the Kenya Defence Forces Act, President Ruto has promoted Lieutenant General Charles Muriu Kahariri to the rank of General and appointed him as the new Chief of the Defence Forces.
