A Kiambu woman, Nelly Wanjiku, is in hospital nursing severe burns after her boyfriend, Simon Mwangi, allegedly poured boiling water on her face in a jealous rage.
The shocking incident, which unfolded late in the night, has left Nelly with life-threatening injuries, while her attacker remains on the run.
According to Nelly, the attack was sparked by an argument about their living arrangements. Simon, who had wanted them to move in together, grew furious when she refused.
That night, he arrived at her home, seemingly calm, and asked for hot water to warm himself from the cold outside.

But as soon as Nelly handed it to him, Simon suddenly splashed the scalding liquid on her face, leaving her screaming in agony.
“I was on the phone with my parents when he came in,” Nelly recalled. “He hugged me, asked for hot water, and then just threw it on me.”

In a desperate attempt to protect her daughter, Nelly instructed her nanny to flee with the child.
But Simon wasn’t finished. As Nelly tried to tend to her burns, he doused her back with the remaining boiling water.
Neighbors, alerted by her cries, rushed her to the hospital as Simon fled the scene.
Authorities are still searching for him, while Nelly’s family is calling for justice and stronger measures to address domestic violence.
