  • Larry turned to his Instagram to document the harrowing ordeal, posting a video depicting his car navigating through the deluge-swamped expressway
  • The relentless rain persisted for nearly eight hours, from Sunday night through Monday morning, wreaking havoc on the city and bringing transportation and commerce to a standstill

In a caption on the post, Larry joked that he forgot to bring his boat to Nairobi, underscoring the heaviness of the floods.

Since yesterday, social media is inundated with videos of netizens who were met unaware by the heavy rains, and had to face its brunt.

In one video, a man is seen rinsing himself up, after cheating death when a gutter he was standing in got flooded carrying him away and nearly drowning him.

The rain went on without stopping for almost eight hours and counting, from Sunday night to Monday morning.

The nonstop rains have been witnessed across all 17 subcounties.

Areas in which floods were experienced included sections of the Central Business District, Westlands, and Eastleigh among others.

From walkways, roads and drainages, all sides were flooded leaving no room for human movement.

The Expressway was mainly affected as water remained stagnant on sections of the 27 km road with motorists stuck for some time.

In the Larry Madowo video, a Chinese man is seen trying to direct vehicles in some less flooded sections on the expressway.

He wore a green reflector and held an umbrella to shield himself from rain as his legs were almost halfway submerged in water.

The expressway, with 18.2km on the ground and 8.9km elevated, is a class A, four-lane dual carriageway with a design speed of at least 80km per hour.
