  • A Kisii man’s emotional testimony rocked the Deputy Governor’s impeachment hearing, unveiling tales of heartbreak and betrayal
  • Dennis Mokaya’s tearful account shed light on corruption allegations, revealing how he sold his salon in hopes of securing a job, only to be left empty-handed
  •  Amidst family feuds, Mokaya’s quest for justice captivated the Kisii courtroom, exposing a web of lost trust and conflicting loyalties

In a gripping display of emotion, the impeachment hearing of Kisii Deputy Governor, Dr. Robert Monda, reached a crescendo as Dennis Mokaya, the main witness, broke down while recounting his ordeal.

Mokaya recounted a harrowing tale of shattered hopes and broken promises.

He told the session that despite selling his salon in Nairobi to secure a promised job in the county, he found himself betrayed by the very person he trusted – the Deputy Governor.

The weight of this betrayal proved too heavy to bear, leading to devastating consequences, including the loss of his wife’s unborn child due to the emotional turmoil inflicted by the ordeal.

“I sacrificed everything for a better future, but instead, I was left with nothing,” Mokaya lamented through tears.

His testimony painted a picture of desperation and deceit, detailing how he handed over Ksh. 800,000 to secure a position as a commercial manager at Gusii Water and Sanitation.

Shockingly, Mokaya revealed that a significant portion of this sum – Ksh. 799,000 – was sent directly to the Deputy Governor via mobile money transfers.

The proceedings were marked by familial tensions, with Mokaya’s testimony revealing a rift within his own family, torn apart by conflicting loyalties.

He explained he found himself at odds not only with the Deputy Governor but also with his own parents, who stood as witnesses for the defense.

In a gut-wrenching twist, Mokaya disclosed how his parents, who maintained a close relationship with the Deputy Governor, urged him against lodging any formal complaints.

Their loyalty seemingly lay with their friend rather than their own son, as they contested Mokaya’s claims, insisting that the money exchanged was merely a soft loan undergoing repayment.

The courtroom tension reached its zenith when Mokaya confronted his father’s allegiance, expressing profound disappointment at his father’s decision to prioritize friendship over truth.

“This isn’t just about money; it’s about justice,” Mokaya declared, his voice trembling with emotion. “If my own father chooses to turn a blind eye to the truth, then I must seek justice elsewhere.”

In a poignant plea, Mokaya implored the Senate not only to hold the Deputy Governor accountable for his actions but also to ensure restitution for his financial losses.
