  • The tranquil village of Kwa in Kuria West is grieving the loss of an elderly watchman who was struck by lightning while walking home from his shift
  • Witnesses reported that he was caught in a heavy downpour and continued walking, hoping to reach shelter, unaware of the impending danger

The tranquil village of Kwa in Kuria West is shrouded in sorrow following the tragic death of an elderly watchman, struck by lightning during a downpour.

The incident occurred as the man was walking home from Migori town after finishing his shift as a night guard.

Witnesses recalled the harrowing scene; initially, they were unsure of the man’s identity until they recognized him by his distinctive rungu.

“At first, some residents didn’t realize who it was on the road, but later they recognized him as a guard who worked at a homestead in the area,” said Morisson Ogutu, a local resident.
