The heart-stopping incident, which unfolded around 7:15 pm, claimed the life of a woman whose identity remains unknown and left a man with severe leg fractures.
The lorry, loaded with building blocks, descended the mainland ramp toward the ferry when the driver, Bakari Gonga, seemingly lost control, unleashing chaos at the crowded crossing point.
Witnesses could only watch in horror as the vehicle struck the two unsuspecting pedestrians.
