  • After a 24-hour journey to Kenya, Henrik Elvejord Borg finally tracked down country singer Maombi Samson, who had initially ghosted him despite their planned meeting
  • The disappointed mzungu had even considered giving up, retreating to the Maasai Mara, before a dramatic video call reignited hope for their music collaboration
  • Henrik, overjoyed, pledged to fund Maombi’s travel and hotel stay, declaring, “You’re the reason I came to Kenya!”

A determined mzungu man, Henrik Elvejord Borg, who had traveled an exhausting 24 hours from his home country to meet Kenyan country music singer Maombi Samson, has finally managed to get hold of the artist over the phone.

This development comes after Henrik publicly lamented being stood up by Maombi, who had failed to honor their agreement to meet upon Henrik’s arrival in Kenya.

Despite repeated calls, Maombi remained unreachable, leaving the distraught fan feeling abandoned.

The saga unfolded on Monday, January 27, 2025, when Henrik shared a video detailing his ordeal.

After landing in Nairobi and enduring a grueling six-hour journey to Kisii, the hopeful fan was met with disappointment as Maombi failed to show up at their pre-arranged meeting spot.

Frustrated, Henrik decided to take a break and head to the Maasai Mara, expressing his dismay in the video.

He explained that he had discovered Maombi’s music online, which had inspired him to travel to Kenya specifically to meet the singer, promote his music, and collaborate with him on a project.

Maombi Finally Responds

In an unexpected twist, Henrik shared an evening update revealing that he had finally gotten in touch with Maombi on the phone.

The jubilant mzungu posted a TikTok video from the back of a van, where he could be seen having a video call with Maombi, who appeared equally excited on the other end.

The two were overheard discussing their meeting plans, with Henrik enthusiastically assuring Maombi that he would cover his travel costs and even pay for his accommodation to ensure they had ample time to work together.

Henrik, evidently passionate about the collaboration, referred to Maombi as “the boss” and encouraged him to make any additional requests to facilitate their partnership.

He even urged the singer to prepare for their upcoming video shoot, emphasizing how important the opportunity was for both of them.

“I’ll pay for the fare, no problem. But negotiate if you need to. I can also handle your hotel stay so you’re comfortable, and we can work on the video tomorrow. It’s all up to you, man—you’re the boss, Maombi. You’re the reason I’m here in Kenya,” Henrik told the singer, his excitement palpable.
