  • A Nakuru preacher Is turning heads with his bold use of heavy Sheng to attract Gen Z congregants, sparking a lively debate online
  • In viral clips, he is heard throwing around Sheng slang like “tispa” for pastor, leaving netizens wondering if his flock really understands the message
  • Netizens reacted to his video saying he should consider moving from Nakuru to places like Kayole to attract a bigger fan base, while others said he is here to redeem the young generation

A Nakuru preacher has sparked controversy on social media after sharing the type of strong Sheng he uses in his sermons.

In an interview with Instagrammer Nakuru Famous, the preacher, who continued to use heavy Sheng even during the interview, claimed that his church is popular with Gen Zs because of his unique approach to preaching.

In the video, the pastor can be heard using Sheng synonyms for various words, including “tispa” for pastor, among many others, leaving netizens questioning whether his congregation truly understands his messages.

However, the preacher insisted that his Nakuru-based church is adored by young people and that they conduct services in their own style, even incorporating dancing or “banjuka.”

Interestingly, the pastor did not appear to be as young as one might expect from someone fluent in extreme Sheng, but his command of the evolving dialect seemed adequate.

In the clip, he is seen wearing a suit while holding a Bible, distancing himself from accusations that he is not a legitimate preacher.

Preacher Quotes Bible Verse as He Condemns Exorbitant Tithes

The preacher also addressed the issue of pastors who pressure their followers to give large tithes in the name of “planting a seed.”

He quoted a Bible verse from Isaiah 50, stating that this was the passage God used when delivering and commissioning him to spread the Word.

How Did Netizens React to His Video?

Many netizens flocked to the comments section, with some questioning whether his congregation truly understands his strong Sheng, while others suggested that he may be sent to save the younger generation.

However, some pointed out that Sheng is predominantly spoken in Nairobi and suggested that he consider relocating to the city to attract a wider audience and achieve his mission.
