  • On Wednesday, at Abia State University, Uturu, a heartwarming moment unfolded as lecturer Wisdom Anucha surprised many by proposing to his fiancée in her classroom
  • In a series of photographs circulating on Facebook, Anucha was captured kneeling with a ring in hand, expressing his love and commitment to his beloved, who is reportedly a student of Optometry at the university
  •  The proposal attracted a mix of excitement and awe from students, with some enthusiastically witnessing the heartfelt moment, while others captured it on camera to immortalize the touching gesture

A lecturer at Abia State University, Uturu, stunned many students on Wednesday when he proposed to his fiancée in her classroom.

The lecturer, Wisdom Anucha, could be seen kneeling with a ring in his hand while proposing to his heartthrob in photographs circulating on Facebook.

Some students watched in apparent excitement while others were busy recording as the lecturer proposed to be lady, who is said to be a student of Optometry in the institution.

A Facebook user, Possible Nwaohamuo, uploaded a video clip showing the lecturer proposing to the student in the classroom.

“What a memorable day Valentine! My boss Anucha Wisdom proposed to his fiancée, Mr Nwaohamuo wrote.

“Lecturer and student love!” he added.

A close friend of the lecturer, Daniel Ukanwata, confirmed the proposal on Thursday morning.

“It’s very real,” Mr Ukanwata said in response to enquiries about the authenticity of the photographs and video clip.

Valentine’s Day, also called Saint Valentine’s Day, is celebrated annually on 14 February often by Christians in honour of a martyr named Valentine.

The feast has recently become a significant cultural and religious celebration of romance and love in many religions of the world.

Lovers often use the period to share gifts, while intending couples make marriage proposals to their partners.

Lecturer Wins Case against University, Receives Whooping Ksh554k over Unlawful Sucking

In a related development, a lecturer won a court case against Maseno University after the judge ordered the institution to pay him Ksh554,400 in compensation.

In a ruling by Justice Christine Noontatua Baari, the university was asked to make the payment for unlawfully terminating the lecturer’s employment.

According to the court documents, the lecturer was hired on a part-time contract for one semester that extended to the next semester in 2018.

He was however not paid Ksh 352,800 for the first semester and Ksh201,600 for the second semester as agreed in the contract.

The university argued that the lecturer failed to provide the necessary documents to receive his payment.

“The respondent did not deny engaging the claimant to provide the services and its only issue is that it is the claimant that did not follow the laid down procedure for processing part-time claims, hence the non-payment,” read part of the court documents.

According to the university, for one to be paid they need to attach an appointment letter, a teaching timetable, a schedule of class attendance and register, and proof of grading.

The university further argued that the lecturer taught units that were not allocated to him in the second semester.

While appearing before the court, the lecturer produced a teaching timetable, exam timetables, examination mark sheets, and signed students’ class attendance lists to defend his case.

“In my view, the Claimant has by the evidence adduced before this Court, proved his case on a balance of probability, and I so hold,” the judge ruled.
