Pastor Robert Burale Says Men Should Not Take Their Mother’s Name: “A Problem”

  • Renowned lifestyle coach and pastor Robert Burale sparked controversy on social media by suggesting that men should not adopt their mother’s surname
  • Burale expressed that having the mother’s name follow a man’s name might not feel right, inviting netizens to share their perspectives
  • Concerns arose among fans, arguing against his viewpoint, especially in an era where single parenthood is common

Esteemed lifestyle guru and divine figure, Pastor Robert Burale, has stirred up a social media frenzy with his assertion that men should steer clear of adopting their mother’s surname.

Burale articulated that the juxtaposition of a man’s name with his mother’s doesn’t quite resonate well, inviting netizens to weigh in on the matter.

He acknowledged the contentious nature of the topic, bracing himself for a deluge of opposing views, yet confidently asserted his readiness to withstand any backlash, metaphorically donning a ‘helmet’ of resilience.

Concerns among fans were vocalized, denouncing Burale’s stance as out of touch, particularly in an era where single parenthood is increasingly prevalent.

Conversely, some argued that traditional African customs do not align with the practice of men adopting their mothers’ surnames.

Notably, KFCB chairman Mr. Ezekiel Mutua offered a prominent rebuttal, attributing the phenomenon of adopting maternal surnames to a contemporary trend, asserting its absence in past generations.

Citing former US President Barack Obama as an exemplar, Mutua emphasized that authentic masculinity transcends such practices, irrespective of one’s racial heritage.

It was not so in the beginning! Real men don’t do that no matter how severed the relationship with their dads. Obama could have used his mother’s name to sound white, but he is a real man. He stuck to his ancestral roots and when he did his first book he called it “Dreams from my Father” despite the fact that the Kenyan man from Kogelo had abandoned them. Authentic Obama, stuck to his story and rose to rule the most powerful nation on earth! There’s something about genealogy and it’s rooted in fatherhood, not motherhood, important as mothers are!
