Police Arrest Man in Huruma after Dismembered Body Parts are Found in his Bag

  • Police in Nairobi’s Huruma area arrested John Kiama Wambua, 29, after finding human body parts stashed in a bag he was carrying during a patrol near Kelly Towers on January 21, 2025
  • The suspect confessed the remains belonged to his wife, Joy Fridah Munani, 19, and led officers to his house, where more dismembered parts and a bloodstained kitchen knife were recovered
  • The body parts were moved to City Mortuary for postmortem, and the case is under investigation by DCI Starehe

Police arrested a 29-year-old man, John Kiama Wambua, early on the morning of January 21, 2025, after discovering human body parts stashed in a bag he was carrying.

The arrest occurred during a routine patrol near Kelly Towers.

Upon interrogation, the suspect confessed that the body parts belonged to his 19-year-old wife, Joy Fridah Munani.

He later led officers to his residence, where additional remains were discovered concealed under a bed.

Disturbing evidence, including a bloodstained kitchen knife and the victim’s clothing, was also recovered from the scene.

Blood stains on the house’s floor further corroborated the grim events.

The remains have been transferred to the City Mortuary for postmortem analysis as detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) Starehe Division work to piece together the motive behind the heinous crime.

The suspect is currently in custody, with the case pending before court under reference CR 126/12/2025.
