Two days after the heartbreaking death of former AFC Leopards winger Ezekiel Otuoma, his wife Racheal has poured out her anguish, describing the unending pain of losing her husband.

Otuoma, fondly remembered as “Rooney,” passed away on Friday night after a grueling battle with Motor Neurone Disease (MND), a rare condition that left him wheelchair-bound and ended his promising football career.

In a heartfelt social media post, Racheal laid bare her grief, calling the loss an open wound—“kidonda”—that may never heal.

“It broke my heart to lose you, but you didn’t go alone; a part of me went with you,” she wrote, adding that his passing on her birthday made the tragedy even more unbearable.

Football clubs and fans across the country have continued to pour in their tributes. AFC Leopards, where Otuoma earned his nickname “Rooney,” mourned the loss of their former star, stating: “We pass our heartfelt condolences to his family and the entire football fraternity. May his soul rest in eternal peace.”
