  • Constituents of Sabatia were in disbelief as their MP, Clement Sloya, attempted to justify his yes vote for the finance bill, facing fierce booing and demands to leave the event
  • Just as he took the mic to explain why he went against Kenyans’ pleas to reject the ‘draconian’ finance bill, the crowd erupted
  • A video shows the heated moment Sloya had to cut his speech short and exit as furious constituents drowned him out with chants

Sabatia MP Sloya Clement was next in line to face the music for having voted yes to the 2024 finance bill.

Yesterday, members of his constituency booed him and denied him a chance to speak during an event, forcing him to cut his speech short and leave.

The MP had just begun explaining why he voted yes to the bill when murmurs started spreading, eventually leading to fervent booing and demands for him to leave the event.

Even women in the crowd expressed their anger, shouting that he had ignored their pleas to vote against the bill.

Clement tried to justify his decision by explaining that he believed the bill would bring positive changes for Kenya, but his constituents wouldn’t let him finish.

This incident comes just days after another MP from Kibwezi faced a violent backlash for also voting yes to the finance bill.

A video showed the Kibwezi MP being attacked at a burial, with one angry constituent grabbing him by the collar and toppling him to the ground before others began to rain blows on him.

The chaos started when fellow leaders, seated with the MP, confronted him, and one of them whipped him with papers.

Security eventually intervened, but not before the MP experienced the full extent of his constituents’ betrayal.

Many netizens who watched the video predicted a bleak future for all MPs who voted yes to the finance bill.
