  • An unidentified toxic orange gas has been released by police in Nairobi’s CBD to disperse protesters, marking a new and alarming tactic
  • Video footage shows the gas spreading near the Nation Media Group house, causing protesters to flee in panic
  • Meanwhile, in Nakuru, a protester was shot in the neck by police, with disturbing footage showing him bleeding profusely before losing consciousness

After hours of running battles and growing numbers of protesters barricading Nairobi’s CBD, an unidentified toxic orange gas was released to disperse the crowds.

This gas, not previously seen in any protests, marks a new tactic employed by police.

A video has emerged showing the moment police released the gas near the Nation Media Group house in the CBD, while protesters continued their heated chants.

As the gas spread, people scrambled, many wondering if it was more painful than tear gas.

The video also shows police cars and officers on foot at a distance, continuing to lob tear gas at the protesters.

Today’s protests aimed to pressure President William Ruto to either reform or resign, with many Kenyans, particularly the youth, accusing him of corruption and poor leadership.

Protester Shot in Neck During Nakuru Demonstration

Elsewhere, a protester in Nakuru was shot with a live bullet by police, resulting in a disturbing scene where he sprayed blood before losing consciousness.

A video capturing the incident has sparked significant concern online, showing a young man lying on the road with blood energetically spurting from his neck wound.

As the video progresses, the man’s eyes begin to close, and his body becomes frail as he continues to bleed.

Despite efforts to censure police against shooting peaceful civilians, police brutality remains rampant across the country.

Emerging reports indicate that two individuals have already been shot during today’s July 16 protests, further fueling the youth’s resolve to continue demonstrating against police brutality and in pursuit of justice for slain protesters.
