On Tuesday, October 22, 2024, the viral Misheveve Chief Protus Wechuli made an impactful visit to the Parliament buildings, where he presented pressing issues affecting his community to local MP Caleb Amisi.

Wechuli, who gained fame for his comical yet poignant narration of a crime in his Saboti sub-County, expressed his gratitude for the opportunity to engage directly with lawmakers.

During the visit, Amisi praised the chief’s unique approach to leadership and community engagement, noting, “I welcome his comical and hilarious manner of handling the citizens and discussed progressive, non-confrontational ways to maintain law and order in our rural communities.”

Wechuli, who has served as chief since 2007, emphasized the need for improved security and well-being for the residents of Saboti.

His rise to fame, particularly due to a viral video detailing a tragic yet humorous crime incident from 2016, has made him a beloved figure in the community.

In a heartfelt moment, Wechuli shared that he had recently registered a woman from his locality as a widow to secure her financial assistance, showcasing his commitment to the welfare of his constituents.

As his term approaches its conclusion in 2025, the chief expressed his eagerness to continue serving the community in any capacity, stating, “I see myself as very energetic, vibrant, and fond of people, and I will serve with humanity in whatever framework I shall be bestowed.”
