  • President William Ruto has now claimed that the Finance Bill 2024 was not an invention of his own
  • This happened during a grilling session with journalists he had hosted at Statehouse, who repeatedly cornered him on issues that have left many Kenyans frustrated
  • The president defended himself saying that the controversial Finance Bill was actually the creation of MPs who had crafted it with the best intentions for the country

In a surprising shift, President William Ruto now claims the Finance Bill 2024 was not his creation.

During an intense interview with journalists from Citizen, KTN, and NTV, Ruto was repeatedly challenged on issues that have left many Kenyans frustrated.

The president clarified that the controversial Finance Bill, which led thousands to protest, was the work of MPs, not his own doing.

Ruto expressed concerns about governing without the Finance Bill, which he described as crucial for lifting Kenya out of debt.

He maintained he would still strive to lead effectively without it. He defended the MPs who drafted the bill, stating they had the best interests of Kenyans at heart, countering accusations of self-interest.

The interview, moderated by Joe Ageyo, Linus Kaikai, and Eric Latiff, saw the president struggling to defend himself against a barrage of tough questions.

The journalists pointed out that many Kenyans do not associate him with truthfulness and that he seemed oblivious to ongoing protests and social media unrest demanding his resignation.

Ruto insisted he has worked tirelessly for Kenyans and enumerated the promises he has fulfilled since taking office.

However, many Kenyans on social media expressed their frustration, stating they could not finish watching the interview due to the president’s repetitive narratives and unfulfilled promises.

They voiced their dissatisfaction, saying they were fed up with his administration.
