  • Boniface Mwangi has accused Eddie Butita of silencing a bold interview where he condemned President Ruto’s influence over MPs like Jalang’o, branding it as an act of corruption
  • Mwangi revealed that Butita intentionally blocked the release of the interview to appease the same politicians he was criticizing
  • Furious, Mwangi declared that SPM Buzz would never be allowed to cover his story again, calling the media outlet a “kiosk” corrupted by political pressure

Kenyan activist Boniface Mwangi has publicly accused comedian Eddie Butita and his media company, SPM Buzz, of censoring an interview to appease political figures.

Mwangi claims that Butita deliberately “killed” a fiery interview that was set to air on SPM Buzz following complaints from Lang’ata MP Jalang’o.

In a recent revelation, Mwangi explained that during the interview, he had urged Jalang’o and other Members of Parliament not to be manipulated by President William Ruto.

This bold statement reportedly stirred discomfort, leading Jalang’o to lodge a complaint with Butita. What followed, according to Mwangi, was an act of censorship driven by political influence.

“Butita censored the interview to please politicians,” Mwangi stated, calling it outright corruption.

The activist further labeled Butita’s media platform as a “kiosk,” vowing that SPM Buzz would never be allowed to post or write anything about him again.

“This is corruption,” he declared, making it clear that the outlet was no longer welcome in his circle.

The exposé has raised eyebrows, especially given Mwangi’s prominent role in d

advocating for accountability and better governance in Kenya.

Known for his unwavering stance against corruption and poor leadership, Mwangi has frequently led protests, calling for reforms and speaking truth to power.

His activism has often placed him in the crosshairs of authority, leading to multiple arrests over the years.

His first arrest dates back to 2009, during protests against the late President Mwai Kibaki’s government.

Butita, on the other hand, has faced criticism for not taking a clear stand during recent protests, which saw citizens demand President Ruto’s resignation.

While other celebrities publicly supported the demonstrations both online and on the streets, Butita’s silence has not gone unnoticed.

Many have accused him of playing it safe, possibly to maintain favor with the political elite.
