Unidentified Toxic Orange Gas Released in Nairobi Protests

Previously, we reported that an unidentified toxic orange gas was released by police in Nairobi’s CBD to disperse protesters, marking a new and alarming tactic.

After hours of running battles and protesters gathering to barricade Nairobi CBD, this unfamiliar gas was used to dispel the crowds.

Video footage captured the moment police released the gas near the Nation Media Group house, causing people to flee in panic and wonder whether it was more painful than tear gas.

The video also shows police cars and officers on foot at a distance as they continued to lob tear gas at the protesters.

These protests were intended to pressure President William Ruto to address corruption and poor leadership, with many youth particularly vocal about their dissatisfaction.

Protester Shot in Nakuru

In Nakuru, a protester was shot in the neck by police, with disturbing footage showing him bleeding profusely before losing consciousness.

The young man lay on the road as blood shot energetically from the wound, his eyes beginning to close and his body becoming frail as blood continued to drain.

Despite efforts to censure police against shooting peaceful civilians, reports indicate that two individuals were shot during the July 16 protests, highlighting the ongoing issue of police brutality.
