Look Up TV, a fast-rising station, ended its programmes on Friday, June 7, marking the end of its six-year journey in the Kenyan broadcast media sphere.
The announcement was made by the station’s senior Swahili newscaster, Tende Anyula, at the end of his bulletin.
Without disclosing the reason behind the closure, Anyula expressed gratitude to the station’s audience and journalists for their support and contributions that helped Look Up TV achieve national media house status.
“Safari ya Look Up TV iliyoanza miaka sita iliyopita sasa inafikia tamati. Leo ni siku ya mwisho kwa vipindi vya habari vya Kiingereza na Kiswahili. Safari hii isingekuwa inawezekana bila timu yetu ya wanahabari na watazamaji wetu. Msipotupata, fahamuni tumemaliza vipindi vyetu,” said Anyula.

NMG Announces Layoff
Same day as Look Up TV’s closure, Nation Media Group (NMG) announced it would lay off part of its staff due to financial challenges.
In an internal memo, NMG Chief Executive Officer Stephen Gitagama noted that the media house is facing reduced earnings from traditional platforms amid the rapid transformation of the media landscape.
