Retired President Uhuru Kenyatta has made a striking appearance in Abidjan, Ivory Coast, for the 15th High-Level Retreat on the Promotion of Peace, Security, and Stability in Africa, effectively quelling rumors about his health.
The gathering, organized by the African Union (AU) Commission, will focus on the impact and sustainability of AU preventive diplomacy and mediation in addressing conflicts across the continent.
Scheduled from October 25 to 26, 2024, the retreat marks a significant milestone, coinciding with the 20th Anniversary of the Peace and Security Council (PSC), and will be attended by prominent leaders, including Ivory Coast’s President Alassane Ouattara.

Kenyatta’s arrival comes on the heels of a Twitter post by blogger Maverick Aoko, who claimed the former president was bedridden in a private hospital.
However, the 4th President of Kenya was seen greeting AU officials upon his arrival, showcasing his health and commitment to his new role as a peace envoy.
